| Dear Fellow Responders:
We have weathered Tropical Storm Sandy with minimal injuries, little infrastructure damage and in many cases with a renewed sense of community and devotion to the job. Hopefully your neighborhoods are safe and beginning the process of cleaning up.
While we work at opening roadways, checking on damaged homes and responding to emergencies please remember to continue operating in a safe manner. With many electric lines still down, trees across wires and the unstable water saturated ground the likelihood of unseen hazards are ever present.
I personally want to thank the entire Countywide Volunteer and Career staff, Emergency Management Coordinators, Fire and Police Chiefs, as well as the County DES staff for all of their hard work and vigilance over the last twenty- four hours. I had the privilege of being part of the very proactive preparations across the County and was more than impressed with the cooperation and teamwork displayed across all disciplines prior to, and during the storm. You should all take pride in your dedication to serving your communities.
Stay Safe! |
