| Lower Oxford – On Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at approximately 0800 hours, the Union Fire Company No. 1 and mutual aid companies responded to a reported educational residential housing unit fire in Box Area 2160 at the Lincoln University, 1570 Baltimore Pike.
While conducting interior fire suppression efforts, 2nd Class Firefighter/EMT Timothy McDonnell fell through a burnt portion of the first floor and into the basement. The Engine Lieutenant transmitted an emergency mayday event and Firefighter McDonnell was immediately evacuated from the structure, and transported to Christiana Hospital for evaluation. At this time Firefighter McDonnell has been admitted into the ICU in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries, as medical staff continues to monitor his condition.
Timothy McDonnell is a 2 year veteran Firefighter of the Union Fire Company No. 1, and had previously served the Avondale Fire Company since 2008.
